Europe’s 12-Point Peace Plan: A New Ploy to Perpetuate Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Abbas Hashemite, November 02, 2025

The EU’s newly unveiled 12-point proposal for ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict appears less a peace initiative and more a calculated attempt to reshape the global narrative and justify the West’s prolonged interference in Eastern Europe.

Europe’s 12-Point Peace Plan: A New Ploy to Perpetuate Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Since February 24, 2022, the West has been continuously supporting Ukraine in its violent attacks on Russia. The West, including the United States and European nations, has been providing diplomatic and strategic support to Ukraine to entangle Russia in a prolonged conflict. From 2022 to 2024, the EU has provided €6.1 billion in aid to Ukraine under the European Peace Facility to support Ukraine’s aggression against Russia. In addition, the EU has extended approximately €63.2 billion in humanitarian, financial, military, economic, political, and diplomatic support to Ukraine. Moreover, the United States has provided $175 billion in aid to Ukraine from 2022 to 2025. Collectively, Kyiv has received more than $360 billion in aid from different Western nations, according to the Kiel Institute.

Ukraine as a Proxy and the Failure of Peace

The Western nations are employing a multipronged strategy to achieve their regional and global ambitions. Ukraine is being used by Western nations as a proxy to impede the rapid rise of Russia as a new superpower in the world. Through the Russia-Ukraine conflict, they have used Ukrainian lives to achieve their ambitions. The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has compromised regional peace and the lives of his citizens by becoming a puppet of the Western world. Kyiv has repeatedly launched military offenses over the last three years. However, it faced defeat in all these attacks despite Russia’s extraordinary restraint.

With the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and Israeli genocidal operations in Gaza, the world has realized that Western nations are the actual war instigators and are responsible for chaos, conflict, and violence around the world

Russia has repeatedly urged Western nations to end the conflict through peaceful negotiations. Turkey also hosted peace negotiations between the two sides. However, the European nations and the United States have disrupted all the peace efforts brokered by different nations in the past to prolong the conflict. The West seeks to expand NATO to Russian borders, posing a direct threat to Russian sovereignty and security. Russia had repeatedly warned the West against the eastward expansion of NATO.

Broken Promises and NATO’s Eastward Expansion

The European nations have repeatedly violated the historic agreement between Russia and the West. After the end of the Cold War, many Western leaders promised the then Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev that they would not expand NATO “even an inch eastward.” However, the West began violating the agreement in 1999 by adding Poland to NATO. Since then, many Eastern European countries have been added to the NATO alliance, a significant violation of the agreement between Russia and the West.

Russia repeatedly warned the West against these violations. However, the latter remained unconcerned about the Russian concerns. Ukraine’s bid to gain NATO membership sparked a violent conflict between the two sides in February 2022. Since then, Western nations have been continuously providing arms and weapons to attack Russia. Despite Ukrainian aggression, Russia has shown extraordinary restraint over the last three years to minimize the death toll of Ukrainian citizens. Russia holds a clear military supremacy over Ukraine. However, it only seeks the withdrawal of Ukraine’s bid for NATO membership. Moreover, it also seeks impartial and fair elections in Ukraine to end Western influence over Kyiv.

Peace Summits or Political Theater?

However, the Western leadership seeks to perpetuate its puppet Zelenskyy’s rule in Ukraine. The US President Donald Trump held a summit with the Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15, 2025, to peacefully end the Russia-Ukraine conflict. However, this summit proved nothing more than a political spectacle. Just like other Western leaders, President Trump also sought to provide Ukraine with maximum leverage during this summit. In addition, the European leadership also proposed the deployment of European troops in Ukraine. This unconstitutional proposal is akin to Ukraine’s inclusion in NATO.

After the failed Alaska summit, US President Donald Trump recently announced an expected summit between the two leaders in Hungary in the coming weeks. However, a senior White House official rejected the possibility of a summit between the two leaders. He stated, “There are no plans for President Trump to meet with President Putin in the immediate future.” Apparently, the denial came after the European pressure on the Trump administration regarding the peace process. The European leadership seeks to perpetuate the Russia-Ukraine conflict to materialize their long-term goals.

Lately, a summit of around 35 Ukrainian allies was held in London to discuss the Russia-Ukraine conflict and show their support for Kyiv. A new 12-point peace proposal was prepared during this summit. However, Reuters reports that this new proposal pushes for the old Western demands. Therefore, it would be pertinent to view this new proposal as another attempt to disrupt peace negotiations between the two sides. With the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and Israeli genocidal operations in Gaza, the world has realized that Western nations are the actual war instigators and are responsible for chaos, conflict, and violence around the world. However, civilians in Russia, Ukraine, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen are paying the cost of this Western warmongering. The West needs to realize that its conspiracies are weakening the incumbent World Order and pushing the third-world nations towards the Eastern bloc.
