Catastrophic Repercussions of the Israel-Iran War

Abbas Hashemite, June 16, 2025

With Israel’s unprovoked strikes on key military installations in Iran, killing several leading army officials and nuclear scientists, instability and chaos in the world has surged to the highest level after World War 2.

Repercussions of the Israel-Iran War

Escalation of Israeli-Iranian Hostilities

After sham US-Iran nuclear peace talks and years of Israeli threats, the latter has conducted unprovoked aerial strikes inside Iran, targeting key military installations and nuclear facilities. Israel killed numerous high-level Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists in its recent strikes on Iran, triggering a new regional war. The attack was soon followed by an unprecedented Iranian missile attack on Israel, targeting key sites in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

The United States, Israel, and many other regional powers have long been attempting to abstain Iran from achieving nuclear power. This concern emerged from their insecurity due to their war crimes and genocidal operations in the region. Iran is the sole regional Muslim power supporting anti-Israel proxies. Moreover, Iran has offered unconditional support to Gaza, pitting it directly against Israel.

The United States’ paradoxical and hypocritical role is jeopardizing global peace

This Israeli aggression has once again put the whole world in danger of another world war. Israel has long been seeking to directly involve the United States in regional wars, especially against Iran. It intends to materialize the ambition of “Greater Israel” through a broader regional war with the help of Western powers. Israeli strikes on Iranian cities and key military infrastructure reflect that Donald Trump’s peace talks with Iran were merely a sham move to justify these strikes. Iran sought the US assurance against any potential Israeli attack in the future. However, Washington was reluctant to provide any such guarantee, leading to a stalemate in nuclear negotiations.

Strategic and Economic Consequences of the Conflict

Although the United States has repeatedly denied its involvement in the recent Israeli attack, Iranian officials hold that this attack was impossible without the US assistance. Israel was long perceived as the strongest military power in the region. However, Iran’s missile strikes in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Galilee, and other Israeli cities have debunked the myth of the invincibility of Israel and its Iron Drone air defense system. Israel and its Western allies have failed in recent days to neutralize the Iranian missiles effectively, showing the world that Israel cannot win a war against a strong military power.

The war between the two sides holds regional and global repercussions. The Middle East serves as the key provider of energy and fuel to the entire world. A war between Iran and Israel can significantly impinge this supply chain. Moreover, Iran holds influence over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime choke point between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Iranian authorities have reportedly been mulling the option of blocking the Strait of Hormuz, which could disrupt the global energy supply chain. This will also result in a significant surge in energy and commodity prices, leading to a rise in global inflation.

Global Alliances and the Risk of World War

Israel attacked Iran under the pretense of hampering it from gaining nuclear power. However, it has put Tehran in a difficult situation. Iran now has only two options left: either attain nuclear power or surrender to the Zionist regime. If Iran chooses the latter, it will cease to exist as a sovereign nation. Therefore, the only option Iran is left with, after the recent Zionist attack, is to resist Israeli aggression and Western pressure. Iran has already shown its intent to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Moreover, Iran’s surrender will also put the whole region under a novel threat. The Western influence will expand in the Middle East and South Asia to an unprecedented level, raising security risks for regional countries, along with Russia and China. Pakistan acknowledges that Iran’s sovereignty is mandatory for its existence. Therefore, it has reiterated its support for Iran against the Zionist aggression.

Iran also praised Pakistan, Russia, China, and Algeria at a recent UN Security Council meeting for their unconditional diplomatic support. Russia, China, and Pakistan are continuously engaged with Iran and the United States to keep the catastrophe under control and limit its repercussions. However, the Israeli ambitions demonstrate that the Zionist state seeks to further escalate the situation and start a new broader regional war in the Middle East.

Israel has also asked the United States to join its military aggression against Iran. However, the US is still avoiding direct military involvement in this war. However, any miscalculation from any side could ignite a global war in the Middle East, leading to a third world war between the Western and Eastern powers. The United States’ paradoxical and hypocritical role is jeopardizing global peace. International leaders need to play a constructive role to end this ongoing conflict and save the world from another global catastrophe. Moreover, the West must end its unrelenting support to Israel to ensure perpetual peace in the region and beyond.
