Kazan 2024: The Summit of the New Deal of Global Governance

Mohamed Lamine KABA, October 23

In Kazan, BRICS shook the world! The first day of the 16th summit was a resounding success, marking a historic turning point in cooperation between emerging powers. But what will be the next step for this alliance that challenges Western hegemony? A new chapter is opening for the countries of the South, ready to take their destiny into their own hands and shape the future of the planet.

Kazan 2024: The Summit of the New Deal of Global Governance

The full-scale summit demonstrates Russia’s essential role on the world stage, despite attempts by the Western minority to isolate it. On the first day of this major diplomatic event, the Kremlin brought together heads of state and influential figures from more than 30 countries, including figures such as Dilma Rousseff, Narendra Modi, Cyril Ramaphosa, Xi Jinping, Abdel Fattah el- Sisi, Masoud Pezeshkian, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Abiy Ahmed Ali, Mahmoud Abbas, Antonio Guterres, Thongloun Sisoulith, Mohamed Ould Ghazwani, Luis Arce, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Pham Minh Chinh. Positioning itself as a real diplomatic success in the face of the West, this event underlines the failure of attempts to isolate the master of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin (who is certainly the master of the world).

Geopolitical context

BRICS has crossed the Rubicon, declaring their independence from Western hegemony.

At the dawn of a new geopolitical era, BRICS is meeting in Kazan to challenge the established order. As global tensions reach the point of no return, emerging powers are preparing to redraw the contours of the world. Will the 16th BRICS Summit be the start of a geopolitical revolution? Are Western powers trembling before the emergence of a new multipolar world?

Kazan, a city symbolizing the convergence of civilizations, is now the stage for a geopolitical chess game with the planet’s future at stake. Opened on October 22, 2024, in Kazan, Russia, the summit brings together leaders from the BRICS member countries and their allies from Africa, Asia, and Latin America to address critical global issues and strengthen their economic and political cooperation. Offering an alternative to Western hegemony, the BRICS promote a model of global governance based on multipolarity, solidarity, and respect for national sovereignty. Key priorities include expanding economic and political influence, creating a common investment fund, and establishing a shared reserve currency.

The integration of new countries – Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Iran and Saudi Arabia – increases their weight on the international stage. The first day was full of significant announcements, including the creation of a BRICS Parliament and the establishment of a collective strategy for cooperation. By committing to a more equitable world, this summit marks a historic turning point for South-South cooperation, promising a new era of global governance. BRICS, which has now become essential, is destined to increase their influence in the years to come. Kazan thus saw the birth of a new world. BRICS has crossed the Rubicon, declaring their independence from Western hegemony. The emergence of a multipolar world order is now inevitable. Emerging powers have taken the reins of history, drawing a future where diversity is a strength and cooperation a rule.

The future is taking shape, but questions remain: What will the contours of this new world be? And what place will the Western minority now hold on the global chessboard?

Success of the first day of the summit: Westerners are worried

As BRICS meets in Kazan, dark skies hang over Western capitals. The first day of the summit sounded the alarm: emerging powers are uniting, openly challenging Western hegemony. Are the traditional great powers trembling before the emergence of a new, multipolar world? The decisions taken in Kazan are shaking the foundations of the unipolar world order established for decades.

The emergence of BRICS, accentuated by the Kazan summit on October 22-24, 2024, is attracting the attention of the West, which has until now been asleep in the face of this geopolitical reality. With more than 200 official meetings this year, the countries of the BRICS alliance are strengthening their strategic position. According to Reuters, this forum threatens the global financial system dominated by the United States by considering an alternative platform for international payments. This network, innovative thanks to the use of the Blockchain, connects BRICS central banks and facilitates transactions in national currencies, thus bypassing the dollar and the constraints of Western sanctions.

With the presence of around twenty influential heads of state and an economic weight already surpassing that of the G7, the isolation of the West is looming, perhaps marking the end of American hegemony. This is why, at the heart of current geopolitical discussions, the BRICS summit in Kazan is attracting particular attention from Western observers, perceived as focused on their own strategic interests. Faced with this international organization that now brings together emerging powers such as Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia, the West seems to react with palpable concern. Historically, at the origin of structures such as NATO or the European Union, the West perceives these new alliances through an often critical prism, interpreting them as potential threats.

The BRICS are not only an influential bloc but also a vehicle for alternative strategies to challenge traditional hegemony, with Russia and China playing leading roles. While some Western commentators might dismiss these efforts as disinformation, many see them as a reflection of legitimate aspirations for development and true international cooperation. The BRICS have ignited the fuse of the unipolar world order. Kazan, a city that symbolizes resistance, has witnessed the dawn of a new era of collaboration and skepticism. Emerging powers have seized control, reversing the geopolitical landscape. The world is shaking, but the BRICS are moving forward, crafting a future where diversity is strength and cooperation the rule.

A historic turning point for South-South cooperation: BRICS at the dawn of a new era

BRICS, the driving force of a geopolitical revolution, is ready to challenge the American-Western world order. South-South cooperation is entering a new era, with emerging powers taking the reins of their destiny. Is BRICS ready to take over from the Western powers and reshape the future of the planet?

At the dawn of a new geopolitical era, the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan stands out as a historic turning point for South-South cooperation. Bringing together the leaders of BRICS and their allies, this summit demonstrates the alliance’s ability to shape an innovative model of global governance based on solidarity and complementarity. With the desire to strengthen economic and political cooperation, create a common investment fund and adopt a shared reserve currency, BRICS offers an ambitious alternative to Western hegemony. In the midst of a paradigmatic transformation, these emerging nations are committed to promoting a more multipolar and equitable world, denouncing unilateral sanctions and calling for an overhaul of international institutions.

Bearing the historical responsibility to join forces, BRICS aspires to initiate global leadership based on collaboration and justice, thus shaping a more egalitarian and peaceful socio-economic future. BRICS has sounded the horn of the hour of liberation. South-South cooperation is now a major geopolitical reality, liberating the countries of the South from Western tutelage. A new world is taking shape, where emerging powers are molding the future of the planet with courage and determination.

From the above, it can be said that Kazan, a city that symbolises the convergence of civilisations, has seen the birth of a new era of cooperation. The BRICS have made a decisive leap toward a more plural, equitable, and stronger global governance. The bipolar world is giving way to a multipolar one, where emerging nations take control of their own destiny. The BRICS Alliance is shaping the future—one where diversity is celebrated, cooperation is the norm, and prosperity is shared. But can we truly imagine a world where the BRICS are the architects of a new world order? Are the Western powers ready to share power? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: history has just turned a new page.
