Deeper US-Israel military integration under the NDAA could lock Washington into a more permanent strategic commitment to Israel, limiting US policy flexibility while heightening tensions in the Middle East and beyond.
Section 219: Deepening US-Israel Military Integration
The NDAA will approve approximately $1.15 trillion for defense spending, including a 5-7 percent increase in the salaries of military personnel, additional spending on missile defense, hypersonics, autonomous technologies, increased ammunition and weapons, and other future technologies. Under the bill, the Department of Defense will also be renamed the Department of War, with all future references to the US Secretary of Defense or the Department of Defense in any legislation referring to the Secretary of War and the Department of War. Section 219 provides for the creation of a permanent Pentagon position to oversee expanded intelligence sharing and joint weapons development between the two countries, giving Tel Aviv a level of military integration with the US that even most NATO allies don’t have.
Furthermore, it establishes the “United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative,” a project that would identify Israeli-developed or jointly developed technologies that could be integrated into the US military systems. In addition, the initiative would promote collaborative research involving the US and Israeli governments, academia, and industry, as well as military cooperation coordinated with the US Department of Defense, including its Defense Innovation Unit, US Space Command, and Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate. Although the vote largely followed party lines, there were notable exceptions: one Republican opposed the measure, while six Democrats crossed party lines to support it. The bill will now go before the Senate, where Senator Bernie Sanders has already strongly criticized it.
From Coordination to Institutionalized Integration
In some media reports, the bill is being misinterpreted as a merger of the US-Israeli military. In reality, it is the further integration of the already ongoing coordination in defense technology, operational planning, research and development systems, and acquisition pipelines. This integration would make it harder to dismantle bilateral cooperation and collaboration between the US and Israel in the future. The US-Israel relationship, especially if viewed since the illegitimate creation of the latter, demonstrates that this integration is a natural next phase in their bilateral relationship.
Since the start of the US-Iran war, the US-Israeli relationship has been witnessing an up-and-down trajectory. The Trump administration seems frustrated over the Israeli government’s continuous strikes in the Middle East and its attempts to shatter all regional peace efforts. Moreover, public opinion around the globe, especially in the United States, has turned against the Zionist regime in Israel and its supporters. The Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s statement to end Israeli dependence on US financial aid also signals a rift between the two sides.
A Narrower Strategic Exit for Washington
However, the timing of the House’s approval of the NDAA came as a surprise. It appears that when US public sentiment and the Trump administration were turning against the Zionists, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) used its influence over US lawmakers and the deep state to integrate the US and Israeli militaries further. Many analysts around the world have shown their concern over this integration, stating that it would expose classified US defense technology to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), which could use it to further intensify its war crimes and genocidal operations against Palestinian civilians.
However, under this bill, the United States would not be able to halt any single piece of weapons or ammunition. Moreover, the bill will narrow down the United States strategic exit options. The US-Israel military integration would further exacerbate the situation in the Middle East, as it would intensify US-Iran confrontation and spark insecurity among the Gulf states. In addition, this bill could spark a vicious cycle of balance of power, compelling middle powers, such as Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, and Bangladesh, to further deepen their own defense partnerships and security arrangements, accelerating competitive balancing in the region.
A more institutionalized or strengthened collaboration between Russia, China, Iran, and other Eastern powers could also be seen as a result of this integration between the two Western aggressors. Furthermore, the United States’ increasing commitments and involvement in the Middle East would divert Washington’s focus from its Indo-Pacific strategy. If the US Senate passed the NDAA bill, a strong public backlash is expected in the country, as US public sentiment has rapidly turned against the Zionists.
The Geopolitical and Domestic Costs of Integration
The NDAA bill has further increased complications for the Trump administration. It has serious domestic and international repercussions for the United States. Such bills further strengthen the prevalent notion that Zionists control the US deep state. Global public opinion favors Iran and Palestine, while strongly opposing the US and Israeli actions in the Middle East. The role of middle powers is also increasing, with Russia and China emerging as players in the new multipolar world. However, the US establishment still sticks to its traditional policies and Cold War mindset. AIPAC’s extraordinary influence over US lawmakers and the establishment has made the country a Zionist puppet. In this situation, the US government and establishment need to get rid of the Zionist lobby in the country and must rethink its unilateralist and interventionist policies. Otherwise, the US would soon see an end to its global supremacy.
