“Doublespeak,” by definition, and there are endless definitions, refers essentially to the debasement of language intended to define “truth” while leaving it “unfactual.” (Gordon Duff, Veterans Today)
Quoting actor John Banner who played Sergeant Shultz, the bumbling Nazi prison camp guard in the TV series Hogan’s Heroes:
“I know nothing, I see nothing.”
Thus, we begin the day with news reports on the recent cease fire in the Ukraine. An unnamed source, according to Reuters, claims that “rebels” in the town of Debaltseve have stated that the current peace accord “does not apply to them.”
Let’s take a second with this one. What the article leaves out is that the “factual truth” might have been expressed in a different tone were it not for “doublespeak.” You see, the cease fire doesn’t apply to them because their city is being shelled.
Then again, are they “rebels?” This is even more “doublespeak.” The elected government in Kiev was overthrown by what has been factually shown to be a foreign backed coup making use of false flag terrorism. The “rebels,” and in the world of “real-speak” those who attack an elected government are “rebels,” used snipers to fire on their own people in order to stir up civil unrest. We call these “agent provocateurs,” the linguistic precursor to the term “false flag terrorism.”
When the extremist “rebels” took Kiev, the “loyalists” suddenly became “rebels,” termed so by news organizations controlled by the foreign elements that backed the real ultra-nationalist rebels. Is this clear enough for you?
Let’s take an incident this week in Syria. A Syrian Mig 21 was shot down over “Israeli controlled air space.” The Mig 21, actually a Mig 23, pilot and copilot bailed out and were recovered well inside Syria outside the city of Daraa. This is a different version of “doublespeak” as factually, this really is Israeli controlled air space. That Israel is controlling airspace over someone else’s country in contravention to international law creates what we call, an “unasked question.”
Is a nation that illegally controls the airspace of another and attacks its military forces an “aggressor?”
Though the downing of the plane in support of ISIS operations might well be considered both terrorist and a violation of Syrian sovereignty, perhaps even a war crime as well, the fact that Israel is capable of shooting down planes over Syria using its American air defense system; well, you see where this is going.
For a change of pace, we can move over to Afghanistan. In the late 1970s, the US decided it had to push Russia out of Afghanistan, though Russian military aid was asked for by an elected government to fight terrorist insurgents now known as “the Taliban” or “al Qaeda.”
The United States choose to supply rebel factions with advanced Stinger missiles capable of downing commercial airliners. Running that operation for the CIA were, according to former White House Intelligence Coordinator Lee Wanta, directors William Casey and Bill Colby and Osama bin Laden under the authority of the ISA, the Intelligence Support Agency established by President Reagan.
Bin Laden maintained inventories and disbursed missiles from a warehouse facility in Peshawar. It took bin Laden and his CIA handler, James Chi, then Islamabad “Chief of Station, and Wanta” years and cost millions in an effort to repatriate dozens of missing Stinger missiles.
During this period, between 1980 and 2001, Bin Laden regularly visited the US to meet with government officials, often at the Metropolitan Club in Washington and to receive medical care at Bethesda Naval Medical Center outside the capitol, according to eyewitnesses. From Veterans Today, September 20, 2013:
“…bin Laden flew to Los Angeles, landing in the Ontario airport, met by Albert Hakim, representing President Bush (41), Ollie North (free on appeal bond), Admiral William Dickie, attorney Glenn Peglau and General Jack Singlaub, one of the founders of the CIA.
Hakim was the personal representative of President Bush and in overall charge of the project. “Bud” McFarlane, an Iran-Contra figure pardoned by President Bush in 1992, was also a part of the group.
Bin Laden then left Los Angeles for Washington DC. There he stayed in the Mayflower Hotel. Meetings were held at the Metropolitan Club in Washington. Attorney Glenn Peglau stayed at the Metropolitan.
While there, Peglau’s room was broken into and “items” removed. (Bin Laden, head of “Al Qaeda” was actually interviewed by police) At no point is there record, classified or public, that this ‘working group’ was ever dissolved nor is there any record that Osama bin Laden’s status as a security operative working for the US government ever ended.”
These visits and medical treatments continued until into 2001, only weeks before he was accused of masterminding the demolition of the World Trade Center on 9/11, according to Department of Justice officials, his second and finally successful attempt to bring down the twin towers, this time using far more advanced and powerful nuclear explosives placed in trucks in the parking garage, according a source from the International Atomic Energy Agency.
For nearly half of Osama bin Laden’s career as founder and head of Al Qaeda, he managed that organization, subject of an international manhunt, while in Washington DC, a seemingly easy task for someone who officially died twice, December 13, 2001 and May 2, 2011. Considering no evidence of his “deaths” has ever been presented, he may well outlive us all. Is a “double-death” a form of “doublespeak?”
Sticking with Afghanistan, what is it about this drug thing? Last year by its own admission, the United States that has spent $7.7 billion to eradicate drug production in Afghanistan seized only .007 percent of Afghanistan’s 5.5 million kilogram heroin production.
Here is one of the great “doublespeak” con jobs in history. You see, in order to make opium easier to seize, more centralized, the US financed conversion of Afghanistan’s opium crop to processed heroin. The facilities are owned by a current and former member of congress, as exposed by whistleblower Sibel Edmonds, who import dry cleaning chemicals brought in by military vehicles through the port of Karachi. These “dry cleaning chemicals,” doublespeak for “heroin processing chemicals,” are “off limits” for anti-drug forces as processing opium into heroin, “factually” is not drug running.
Then again there is another issue as well, distributing the more efficient heroin crop, several thousand planeloads, into Europe and the United States. These planeloads, according to American “doublespeak” are the responsibility of the Taliban. That the Taliban has no air fields, no planes and might well have difficulty getting refueled at Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo. From Global Research:
“Heroin Transport Corridor
US-NATO military control of Kosovo serves several purposes for Washington’s greater geo-strategic agenda. First it enables greater US control over potential oil and gas pipeline routes into the EU from the Caspian and Middle East as well as control of the transport corridors linking the EU to the Black Sea.
It also protects the multi-billion dollar heroin trade, which, significantly, has grown to record dimensions in Afghanistan according to UN narcotics officials, since the US occupation. Kosovo and Albania are major heroin transit routes into Europe. According to a 2008 US State Department annual report on international narcotics traffic, several key drug trafficking routes pass through the Balkans. Kosovo is mentioned as a key point for the transfer of heroin from Turkey and Afghanistan to Western Europe. Those drugs flow under the watchful eye of the Thaci government.
Since its dealings with the Meo tribesmen in Laos during the Vietnam era, the CIA has protected narcotics traffic in key locations in order partly to finance its covert operations. The scale of international narcotics traffic today is such that major US banks such as Citigroup are reported to derive a significant share of their profits from laundering the proceeds.”
Then again, we have another unanswered question:
“If there was almost no narcotics trafficking in Afghanistan whatsoever prior to the US invasion, should we categorize American eradication efforts, bringing Afghanistan from 0% of world supply to its current level, nearing 100%, as ‘unsuccessful?’”
Thus, we return full circle, first to Ukraine. There is a strange and growing intensity to “doublespeak” in recent days. In Ukraine, it is 50,000 dead, cited by Jim W. Dean from German sources:
“The Western press ignored German Intelligence last week when it publicly stated the real death figures for Kiev’s ill-advised “anti-terror” campaign were in the 50,000 range, not 5,000. Angela Merkel ignored her own Intel and was still using the 5400 number in her post Minsk press statements.”
President Obama cites responsibility on the part of “rebels,” and we again note that the rebels were the Ukraine prior to US recognition of the post-coup regime, for those deaths. The vast majority of these deaths are civilian and all at the hands of the US backed Kiev government. There seems to be an aspect of blatant disregard for reality here as President Obama so aptly demonstrates.
If possible, we may go even further in Syria. In shooting down a Syrian plane over “Israeli controlled airspace” and having the pilots parachute to safety well inside Syria, the media is not only guilty of “doublespeak” but ignorant of what, perhaps gravity or the laws of physics?
There is another of the endless “unasked questions.” An “unasked question” is a form of passive “doublespeak.”
You see, in Syria we have three ISIS strongholds. One is near Aleppo, with Turkey on one side, the Mediterranean on the other and Syrian forces surrounding. How are they supplied? How did they get there?
We have another group, operating from Mosul, bordered on one side by Turkey and on the others by Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, where US training camps, according to a recent Wall Street Journal article, “accidentally” trained over 3,000 ISIS fighters.
The third is in Daraa prefecture in the extreme Southwest of Syria bordered by Israel and Jordan and again surrounded by Syrian forces. How do they get supplies? How did they get there?
Answering the “unanswered doublespeak” would inexorably suggest that supplies and jihadist fighters regularly transit Turkey, Jordan and Israel, nations allied to the United States and with sufficient armed forces to destroy ISIS with ease.
Similarly , in the Ukraine, when the Kiev junta began bombarding cities using SS21 missiles, “unanswered doublespeak” takes on a new level of absurdity. From a February 14, 2015 interview with the former head of IAEA nuclear disarmament operations in the Ukraine:
“Now that the cat is out of the bag and everybody knows that the Ukrainian’s still have some 30 year old nuclear tipped SS-21’s in stock the game has changed. The fact that Porky (Poroshenko’s ‘nickname’ in Washington circles) used one could end his dictatorship real fast. No one is going to allow a nut with nuclear weapons to stay in power long. He no longer has support from Germany or France because of this. Let’s see what NATO does next.”
Does this help clarify some of the “who and why” of the Minsk settlement which the US has failed to accept and is trying to sabotage through its control of renegade groups in Kiev?
In the world of “doublespeak,” freedom fighters are rebels or terrorists. And so it goes.
