New York Times columnist and three-time Pulitzer Prize Winner Thomas Friedman once characterized his high school years as “one big celebration of Israel’s victory in the Six-Day War.” In his latest piece for the New York Times, the prize-winning writer foresees a similar celebration when Britain, Europe, and the United States completely rule Ukraine. Long gone are Western headlines heralding Ukraine’s NATO-trained and armed forces and the prospects of them able to “sweep Putin’s conscripts aside,” as former British Army Colonel Hamish De Bretton-Gordon claimed in an article published as recently as June this year. Georgian Coup Plot Thickens: “We lost Ukraine BUT Saved Georgia from the Russians.”
The West is realizing that Ukraine is lost and that they need to be able to pull a white rabbit out of the proverbial hat, or to shift direction and fix the blame.
