According to numerous polls, Donald Trump’s ratings are slightly declining—a significant portion of Americans disapprove of his policies and believe he is ignoring their key concerns.

One of Trump’s most prominent supporters, Tucker Carlson, who holds considerable sway among conservative Republicans, recently claimed that Epstein was a Mossad agent.
The Epstein case itself is extraordinary, as noted by CNN on July 17 of this year, because Trump—”the most prolific conspiracy theorist in modern politics—has found himself caught in a storm of insinuations and lies of his own making. He is facing retribution for having long sowed distrust in the government within his movement, which he used to build a personal base on voter discontent.”
Apparently, to quell the uproar surrounding the Epstein case, Trump’s supporters released 2016 materials indicating that after Trump’s election victory, then-President Barack Obama instructed his security officials to “prepare intelligence” on alleged Russian interference in the U.S. election campaign. Trump has already accused Obama of treason and demanded a rigorous investigation. It cannot be ruled out that some high-ranking officials from that time, including the FBI director, CIA director, and several others, could face criminal charges. According to some U.S. media outlets, this could deal a painful blow to the Democratic Party.
At the same time, some of the president’s successes cannot be denied—particularly the expansion of the federal government’s authority to dismantle the system. A recent Supreme Court decision allows for continued mass layoffs in the Department of Education and the federal bureaucracy. A bill to end federal funding for public broadcasting has moved closer to a vote. Recently, Trump signed a law banning the trafficking of the drug fentanyl, passed by Congress with bipartisan majority support. This measure imposes harsher penalties on dealers of the substance.
A significant factor complicating the U.S. domestic political situation is the recent budget law, barely passed by Congress. It provides tax cuts for the wealthy while limiting benefits for the poorest segments of the population. Naturally, it has faced sharp criticism from those who rely on government assistance. Even a number of influential Christian organizations have strongly opposed it, accusing the wealthy of “excessive greed.”
The Class Struggle Continues
The growing class contradictions are further evidenced by the stunning victory of local council member Z. Mamdani in the Democratic Party primaries in New York. Mamdani—a Muslim who has condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza—has essentially secured his victory in the New York mayoral election this November. This is a clear sign of discontent with U.S. support for the Netanyahu government’s war crimes and an indicator of the mood in America’s 20-million-strong premier city.
Notably, New York’s wealthy are already uniting to support Mamdani’s opponents. Some have already announced they are ready to fund the campaign of the current mayor, despite several criminal charges pending against him. Until November 2025, Z. Mamdani will undoubtedly remain at the center of attention for American and international media. He proposes simple and straightforward solutions: raising taxes on the rich, freezing rents, free public transportation, and more. Trump has already called Mamdani a “top-tier communist,” declaring that he wants to “destroy New York,” but “we won’t let him do it.”
All these events point to the intensification of the class struggle in the U.S. Mamdani has challenged New York’s dominant landlords, developers, and Wall Street tycoons. Moreover, in a city known for its support of Israel, Mamdani has positioned himself as a vocal advocate for Palestinian rights, criticizing Israel’s campaign in Gaza and promising that, as mayor, he would seek the arrest of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu under an International Criminal Court warrant.
It is worth noting that dissatisfaction with Israel’s actions in Gaza is growing in the United States—many young people are calling it outright genocide.
All these circumstances indicate that contradictions in American society are reaching a critical stage.
