In addition, as we read in the Baltic Times:
Solvita Āboltiņa, the chairwoman of the National Security Committee in the Latvian Parliament, says that the 100 NGOs in Latvia receiving money from Moscow are not “organizations concerned with the development of the culture and traditions of national minorities in Latvia.”
Instead, the 100 Moscow-backed organizations the Security Police have identified are those which “are carrying out actions hostile to official policy of the state, including those connected with Latvia’s status as an independent state” and such actions must be considered “interference in [Latvia’s] internal affairs”
What makes all these things especially worrisome, Āboltiņa says, is that they are quite similar to the actions Moscow took before invading Ukraine and Georgia.
To give you some insight into this seemingly irrelevant or unrelated information, I will use a statement made by Dr. Mateusz Piskorski from the European Center for Geopolitical Analysis. This statement is part of the interview I conducted with him called “The Geostrategic Ukraine.
The head of Stratfor, George Friedman , writes a very significant sentence in his recent book titled “Flashpoints: The Emerging Crisis In Europe”. At the end of the book he declares that we Europeans should not take peace in Europe for granted in the next few years. We must know that the war awaits us. Well, Friedman expresses the view of a large number of the US administration experts articulating this way the objectives of the US policy.
Friedman is not just an analyst, a predictor, a scientist, but also one of the prominent advisors. The person who people hear, read, and the person whose views are an expression of looking at the world of the part of the establishment and administration of the United States. Friedman writes explicitly that the Ukrainian conflict will continue for at least a few years being an excuse for deepening the crisis in relations between the European Union and Russia, leading both sides to an economic collapse.
There are also mentioned the issues which are very interesting from the Polish point of view. The fact that for Americans one Ukrainian front is not enough – the front which we shall call the Southern Front. Americans are also preparing to open the Northern Front in the Baltic countries. Today we know that according to some advice of another well-known American expert Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski – according to his speech given at the beginning of 2015 at the meeting of the Senate’s National Defence Committee ,additional units of the US Army are travelling through Poland to the Baltic countries, being shunted from bases in Germany to the Baltic States. Poles who increasingly have to deal with these transports on the streets tell us that these transfers go mainly to Latvia as Latvia is likely to be the hotbed of the conflict.
It seems to be relatively easy to cause the conflict in Latvia leading to a civil war stage as Latvia is inhabited by over 30% of the population which is Russian-speaking and 14% of Latvia’s population does not have the citizenship i.e. they are deprived of any rights due to the ignorance of the Latvian language. This is the population of Russian but also Polish origin. The Russian and Polish people who due to age and the circumstances in which they lived did not learn the Latvian language during the Soviet times, do not know the language and are not considered to be ethnic Latvians too.
Latvia is a multinational State but it does not recognize multilateralism at the constitutional level, at the level of guaranteed minority rights – so the conflict is ready to start because the background is already there. The social base in a situation in which there are currently the Baltic States is also related to an economic war against Russia, in which they lose a lot. This will lead to social unrest which could be exploited by nationalist centers, the centers seeking a confrontation between the community and the Russian-speaking residents of Latvia including the nationalist minded Latvians. And that will eventually be the conflict and possible civil war in the country belonging to both NATO and the European Union. The latter fact is of lesser importance. The most important is the fact of belonging to NATO and the possibility of relying on Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty assuming mutual assistance to each NATO Member State which will be under attack or fall as a victim of external aggression.
I do not need to convince anyone that external aggression may be created by artificial means. We know how well this technique is mastered by the USA. Let me just remind the famous arsenals of weapons of mass destruction that were supposed to belong to Saddam Hussein. Today no one remembers that it was the main argument in favor of the intervention in Iraq. At any time in Latvia, the Baltic States or other countries provocations may occur, of which The Russian Federal Security Service will be accused, which may be interpreted as an aggression of the Russian Federation on the Member State of NATO. I think we are on the verge of the so-called Proxy War as in Ukraine. Unfortunately, in this proxy war, the citizens of the countries which perform like Poland all the commands coming from Washington might be used. Unfortunately, the Polish alliance with Washington puts Poland on the front line and Poland may be used again, however this time not with the number of dozens of soldiers somewhere in the Middle East and Haiti as it was in the nineties, but in a much more dangerous way for the Poland’s national Security.
In this context, the following information may be a harbinger of the scenario presented by Dr. Piskorski.
The website prisonplanet.com on March 30th published an article stating that NATO refines the final details of the military information office in Riga, the Latvian capital. The propaganda office employs technicians who previously worked in Kabul in Afghanistan. In July, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Lithuania and the United Kingdom signed a memorandum reconciling the construction of The StratCom Centre in Riga. This last step will support the social media war propaganda against Russia maintained by the U.S. Department of State.

The center is designed to fight the Russian government, as roughly a quarter of Latvians are ethnic Russians and thus NATO believes Moscow’s media have an important impact in that country. But the center is not only in charge of producing propaganda. As the director of the center, Janis Karklins, explained, they are also working in “the weaponization of social media” aimed at countering pro-Russian sentiment.
