By the way, it is useful to recall the Western countries that supplied Syria with the necessary components for the production of chemical weapons. British Foreign Secretary, William Hague confirmed that in the production of sarin nerve gas, and presumably its use in armed conflict in Syria, chemicals that had been purchased in the UK in the 1980s were used. The minister said in a written statement to the House of Representatives, several British companies between 1983 and 1986 supplied to Syria substances necessary for the production of plastics and pharmaceuticals. “However, they can also be used in the production of sarin gas, Reuters quotes the minister as saying. Chemical dimethyl phosphate and trimethyl phosphate may also be used to create the nerve agent VX. The data we have suggest that the chemicals exported by UK companies were subsequently used by Syria in their programs for the production of the nerve agents, including sarin.”
But it was not only London who was partaking in nefarious deeds. Paris as well has not lagged behind its European partners, already supplying conventional weapons to militant gangs, and thus further fanning the flames of civil war in Syria. Several months ago, France supplied arms to the Syrian opposition, “caught” between the regime of Bashar al-Assad and the jihadists of the “Islamic state,” the French president, Francois Hollande admitted while on French island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean just east of Madagascar. “We could not leave those Syrians who advocate for democracy unarmed,” said the French president during a press conference. At the same time, Francois Hollande in an interview with the newspaper Le Monde described the help of the Syrian opposition, double-speakingly noting that his decision to supply arms is “in accordance with the laws of the European Union.”
Now, after this truly the most important task for not allowing the use of these deadly weapons within the Syrian civil war, although were some attempts, is completed, the West has lost all interest in this issue. It created the impression that the only pretext put forth for the destruction of these chemical weapons had been for the West to overthrow the regime of Bashar al-Assad and place its minions in charge. Quite naturally, it was expressed, but not directly and without any official statements, by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, to which he owes his post. According to the words of an official representative of the world body, Stephane Dujarric, Ban Ki-moon considers the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons capability “a significant success of the international community” and encourages the Syrian authorities to complete the destruction of the remaining objects associated with chemical military program.
Simultaneously, the Pentagon spokesman, John Kirby, as if it were in all aspects a very ordinary case, said, “This morning, the Minister of Defense, Mr. Chuck Hagel called the captain of the ship, Cape Ray, to congratulate the crew upon the completion of an unprecedented operation to neutralize at sea the most dangerous chemicals from the Syrian arsenal . According to him, Chuck Hagel considers their work as an important contribution to global security.
Very inflammatory language is used by the Defense Minister on ensuring global security, since all of the actions of Washington were aimed at overthrowing the regime of Bashar al-Assad by militants and criminals, who, as is evidenced by numerous facts, were armed and trained in camps by Americans on Turkish territory and then sent to Syria. On this subject, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Syria, Faisal Mekdad, in expressing his distrust of the West, blamed the United States, France and the UK for the spreading of terrorists in the region which, as of today, threatens the security of the Western countries as well as the countries of the Middle East. He, as was reported by the state news agency САНА, said that “the UN Security Council ignored hundreds of messages sent by the Syrian government reporting on the threat posed by terrorist groups.” He stressed that Damascus is willing to cooperate in the fight against extremism in accordance with the resolutions of international organization.
It is worth remembering the fact that the world’s media reported that the National Coalition opposition and revolutionary forces (NCORF), which oppose the government of Syria, have requested from the United States airstrikes on militant positions of the Islamic State” (IS), who are fighting with the Syrian free army in the area of the city of Aleppo. With regards to this, Faisal Mekdad said, “Any unilateral action that goes beyond the resolution 2170 of the UN Security Council will be considered as an aggression against an independent state.”
An interesting picture emerges. On the one hand the West actively supports the opposition fighters, supplying them with weapons with Arab money, but on the other, upon the request of one of the opposition groups, is considering plans to conduct in Iraq attacks on opposition forces who, just yesterday seemed to be loyal American allies. Is it possible? Why not? Indeed, it appears that an American Special Forces team was sent in secret to Syria, without the official permission of Damascus, in an attempt to rescue, unsuccessfully, American hostages being held there.
“The United States attempted to carry out an operation for the release of several American hostages in Syria being held captive by the Islamic State (IS), said Pentagon spokesman John Kirby. According to him, the operation was carried out both in the air and on the ground, and was aimed at a specific group of militants. “Unfortunately, the operation was not successful because the hostages were not in the place where it was believed they were being held,” the Pentagon spokesman stated and pompously assured, as always, that “the government uses all its military, intelligence and diplomatic possibilities to secure the return of American citizens.” In turn, the Washington Post, citing unnamed members of the American administration, pointed out that the operation was carried out by Special Forces from all the military branches and was aimed at securing the release of the hostages, among whom was a journalist named James Foley
But according to reports by the global media, currently alongside militants of the “Islamic State” in Iraq and Syria more than 2000 Europeans are fighting, included among them are many from the United States and Great Britain. Does it not mean that some people from Western countries who are fighting on the side of militants are capturing and executing other citizens from the West?
“Perhaps, it will all be worth it after the destruction of chemical weapons” one Syrian newspaper, Al-furat poses and seriously raises the question of the West’s responsibility to its participation in the Syrian civil war. By and large, we are dealing with an international terrorist group that is this time united under the banner of religion. But the question is: why are so many citizens of Western countries involved? “It’s no wonder that recently Western rulers have begun to regularly and with great concern talk about the dangers they face when their citizens who currently are fighting on the side of the militants return to their home countries.
Apparently the time has arrived for the West, and a number of the Persian Gulf monarchies to bring the Syrian opposition, which they fund and supply with weapons, to the negotiating table with Damascus and finally put an end to the fratricidal struggle.
