NATO’s Death Throes in Ukraine

Gordon Duff, April 12 2014

36326An animal is its most dangerous when mortally wounded.

There can be no other explanation for NATOs recent actions. In a recent series of acts, some dangerous, almost terrifying, others absurd and almost comical, NATO has done more than lose credibility.

Were NATO an animal, one would have to put it out of its misery.

BRAIN DEAD

Today, General Philip Breedlove, the American Air Force General currently commanding NATO “Tweeted” a website link to satellite photographs of what he has told the world’s media is the Russian military buildup currently threatening the Ukraine.

Breedlove’s satellite photos, dated only two weeks ago, show masses of combat aircraft and armor that he claims are currently moving toward the Eastern Ukraine. Breedlove has even told the media that he, on his personal authority as “NATO commander,” plans to move additional US troops to Europe “to reassure America’s allies.”

There is only one problem. Breedlove faked the satellite photos. Worse still, he was caught. The satellite images are eight months old, from the summer of 2013. They depict a joint operation, Combat Commonwealth 2013. It gets worse.

NATO General Secretary Anders Fogh Rasmussen has claimed that these troops, the imaginary ones from the faked satellite images, are “not training but ready for combat.” What Rasmussen and Breedlove kept from the press and their Twitter followers was not the simple fact that they lied or that they exceeded their authority. There is also, as is so often the case, an interesting aspect of irony.

Many of the troops in the satellite photos are Ukrainian. You see, the Ukrainian army participated in Combat Commonwealth 2013 and the photos Breedlove and Rasmussen have been spreading around the internet aren’t just eight months old, the depict joint Ukrainian/Russian military exercises.

As American humorist, Jim W. Dean so often says, “You just can’t make things like that up.”

MIXED MEDIA

At the same time Russian media is documenting the insanity of Breedlove/Rasmussen accusations, the Western media is carrying the original stories and the faked photographs. They are that insulated from the real world.

From a USA Today story dated April 10, 2014, exhibiting a total break with reality:

NATO made public to reporters satellite photographs that showed Russia has not removed any of the 40,000 troops near the Ukrainian frontier it said it would reduce, and that those forces are now sharing space with lines of tanks, armored vehicles, artillery and aircraft.

“This is a force that is very capable, at high readiness, and, as we have illustrated through the imagery, is close to routes and lines of communication,” British Brigadier Gary Deakin said at a briefing at the Belgium military headquarters for the European-U.S. defense alliance.

“It has the resources to be able to move quickly into Ukraine if it was ordered to do so,” he said of the Russian forces stationed at more than 100 sites near the Ukraine border.”

I see an early retirement in Brigadier Deakin’s future.

PATTERN OF INSANITY

On March 15, 2014, the Russian journal, New Eastern Outlook published a series of intercepted emails between the US embassy in Kiev and military liaison officials in the Ukraine. These documents outlined a series of planned false flag attacks to be blamed on Russia.

These attacks were to be executed by a combination of former US military and Chechen jihadists, all wearing Russian military uniforms. The intercepted documents even included photographs of targets with specific areas for planting explosives circled in red.

This is what they mean by “being caught ‘red handed.’” These were also satellite photographs, this time “on the cheap,” copied from Google Earth.

INSANITY “PLUS”

Breedlove, as Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), filling the shoes of men such as General Wesley Clark is tasked with the following duties in accordance with the tenets of the Atlantic Treaty:

SACEUR is responsible for the overall command of NATO military operations. He conducts the necessary military planning for operations, including the identification of forces required for the mission and requests these forces from NATO countries, as authorized by the North Atlantic Council and as directed by NATO’s Military Committee. SACEUR analyses these operational needs in cooperation with the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation.”

Breedlove’s recent love affair with “Twitter” and the ease he has shown with fabricating evidence indicates a variance with “good order and discipline.” It is clear that Breedlove is within his authority requesting additional forces to meet the oncoming Russian military juggernaut he says is preparing to march into the Ukraine.

Based on evidence now clearly available to President Obama, current Commander in Chief of the military of the United States, it is impossible to not begin to doubt General Breedlove’s sanity much less his competency to command anything beyond a paper airplane.

Breedlove is, it seems, following in the footsteps of another famed albeit fictional Air Force Commander, General Jack D. Ripper, of the 1963 Stanley Kubrick film, Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.

From Dr. Strangelove:

23421General Jack D. Ripper: (played by Robert Ryan) Mandrake, do you recall what Clemenceau once said about war?

Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: (played by Peter Sellers) No, I don’t think I do, sir, no.

General Jack D. Ripper: He said war was too important to be left to the generals. When he said that, 50 years ago, he might have been right. But today, war is too important to be left to politicians. They have neither the time, the training, nor the inclination for strategic thought. I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.” (Quotes courtesy of Internet Movie Database)

Breedlove as truly bridged the gulf between reality and fiction.

WHY CHECHENS?

Up to 400 military contractors, supplied by one or more Blackwater “derivative” carryovers, the offshore front companies that continue the traditions and “good works” that made “Blackwater” a household name during the Iraq War, are currently in Iraq.

They wear the uniforms of, not only Ukrainian Special Forces but Russia’s Spetsnaz as well though they serve neither. Some are Americans, some identified as Poles and Turks. Many are Chechen terrorists, CIA trained jihadists long at war with the Russian people.

They now walk the streets of the predominantly Russian speaking cities and towns of Eastern Ukraine. They are heavily armed and in the Ukraine illegally.

A very good guess is that they are there to start a war. It is also a very good guess that those who have illegally contracted for their services are in league with those who are profiting from regional tensions, those involved in gas “fracking” activities in the US or the oil futures markets in Dubai.

We are talking about the powers that run NATO. What we can expect is terrorism. We have already had more than a taste. After all, war really is business. US Marine General Smedley Butler, with two Congressional Medals of Honor, took it a step further, with his book War is a Racket.
