The US’s Color Revolution – and Trump’s Latest

Two days after President Trump met behind closed door with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and after an uninterrupted stream of media hysteria, one anchor claimed that anti-Trump demonstrations had broken out all over the country. I did not find any reports about this on-line, so maybe that journalist was getting ahead of a planned ‘color revolution’ intended to somehow result in ‘regime change. Watch this space for updates…..

A few years ago, a young Russian female gun activist, Mariia Torchina, came to study in the US, got close to the NRA and to various Republicans. Her affair with a Republican is reported as ‘offering sex in return for influence’ — as if she were not a normal 21st century single woman who is ‘sexually active’ (as the technical expression goes). Accused of trying to broker a meeting between Trump and Putin, Torchina is in jail without bail for failing to register as a ‘foreign agent’ (shades of Paul Manafort!) and may be charged as a spy.

The deep state (disappointed by the result of our ‘democratic ‘ presidential election), is throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Trump, with the help of a media that speaks with one voice. Torchina was “working to co-opt the conservative movement in the US, establishing a ‘beachhead’”(!). Obama stopped the importing of Kalashnikovs, but “the NRA spent big to elect Trump. The Russians brought NRA leaders and others to Moscow, wining and dining them, around this shared affection for guns. They created a phony pro-gun movement, and Torchina was funded by a Russian oligarch who is a close advisor to Putin. In addition to viewing Steve Bannon and the Alt-Right in general as allies, the Russians befriended extreme Christian conservatives, who hold a conference every year in Russia.”

The breathless anchor who reported these accusations (it might have been MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhl) doesn’t bother to contextualize them by telling us that President Putin is big on religion, going so far as to offer money to women who produce large families, (as was done in post-war Europe in an effort to boost the birthrate…) with the backing of the Russian Orthodox Church. President Putin and President Trump agree on the need to shore up the world’s Caucasian minority (16% of the world’s population), backing Christians, who account for many of the babies born in the white world, as well as the Steve Bannon’s and Alt-Righters who ring the alarm over its dwindling.

Former Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul can sleep tight knowing that he will never to turned over to the Russians. But when President Putin visits the US in the fall, Donald Trump will draw on his role of entertainer to turn the Russian President into a media star. And President Putin’s statesmanlike demeanor and breadth of knowledge will make him an instant success with quality-hungry American voters.
